Dying Matters Week | Fiona Collins – Only Connect
May 15, 2018 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Title: Only Connect: How can we communicate what we really want to say, when we can’t find the right words?
Workshop by Fiona Collins.
“How often do we hold back things we really want to say?
What happens to those unspoken words?
Taking a traditional story from India as our starting point, we will explore finding ways to express the things that we find difficult to say to loved ones.
We will think about the Korean custom of creating paper models of things that were important to a dead relative and placing them on the graves.
What models would you make for those lost ones who are dear to you?
We will also create paper gifts for each other.”
Fiona tells folktales, traditional stories, myths and legends from all around the world, with a special interest in stories of strong girls and women and the Tales of Wales. She tells stories in English, her mother tongue, and Welsh, her second language.
She encourages a love of language in people of all ages and abilities, enabling them to develop skills of speaking, listening and co-operation.
She is experienced in cross-arts and community projects and has written four books of Welsh folk tales, all published by The History Press.
She supports Dying Matters because she believes in the importance of raising awareness of death, dying and bereavement.
Duration of the workshop 2 h with a refreshment break in the middle | Tea and coffee will be provided, small donations towards cakes welcomed 🙂
