About Professor Keith Mason 

Keith Mason is a Space Scientist and Science Administrator.

Specialising in the field of High Energy Astrophysics, Keith has been Principal Investigator for Scientific Instruments onboard both ESA and NASA spacecraft and has used many of the world’s largest Space and ground-based telescopes for his research on accreting binary stars and active galactic nuclei.

He has held research positions at both University College London (UCL) and the University of California at Berkeley as well as being a visiting scientist at the Los Alamos National Laboratory. At UCL he was Director of the Mullard Space Science Laboratory and Head of the Department of Space & Climate Physics.

He subsequently became CEO of the Particle Physics and Astronomy Research Council, and later the Science & Technology Facilities Council (STFC). At STFC he initiated the development of the Harwell and Daresbury Science and Innovation Campuses, created around STFC-run National Laboratories at those sites. He currently advises the Satellite Applications Catapult and Lockheed Martin Space to support the development of the UK Space sector.
