24 x 24 Challenge in aid of St Kentigern Hospice

During the COVID 19 pandemic, St Kentigern Hospice lost 60% of its fundraising income. Things have been made even more challenging due to the current economic crisis we are now facing across the UK. The energy crisis has impacted charities nationwide. The running costs of St Kentigern Hospice have increased by 67% over the last 12 months.

The Hospice requires constant lighting, heating, cooling, and medical equipment to operate effectively, resulting in high energy consumption. Our Defibrillation and Suction Machines are on charge at all times. These machines are used several times through each week and are vital to providing the high level of care our patients need from us. When you donate to our Help your Hospice you’re not just helping to paying for heating and electric to keep our patients and their families comfortable you’re paying for the use of equipment like this.

At the start of the year we launched a campaign called Help Your Hospice where we aimed to raise £20,000 to cover the increase to ensure we can continue to keep our patients and their families warm and comfortable. Thanks to our amazing community we have raised £10,000. This is absolutely phenomenal! Thank you to everyone who has donated so far and to those who have supported on our social media platforms by liking, commenting or sharing our posts. All donations go towards paying for our clinical energy bills to keep our services at full capacity for the most vulnerable members of our community.

For the final month of this campaign we have decided to add a fun twist. We’re asking you to step up to the challenge and embrace the cold to help your hospice! Immerse yourself in cold water 24 times throughout the month of May to represent the 24 hours a day the hospice is open and providing palliative care to those in need.

Entry is FREE but we encourage you to fundraise during the challenge to help raise the vital funds needed to keep the hospice running during these challenging times. Don’t forget to tag us on social media. Winter may be over, but our cold water challenge is just beginning!
