When Mrs Mary Owen celebrated her 100th Birthday instead of gifts she asked family and friends for donations in aid of her two favourite charities . Mrs Owen who was born in Corwen , lived alone until 3 years ago when she moved to live with her daughter at Ruthin but also receives a lot of support and care from her son Richard and his family who live in Towyn . Recently Mrs Owen presented two cheques – one to Lindsey Thomas of St Kentigern Hospice and the other to Margaret Williams of Waen outreach Day Care. Mrs Owen said “ I am so delighted to help such worthy causes – St Kentigern Hospice helps so many people in our community at the most difficult times of their life and have to raise millions of pounds every year. For last three years I have attended Waen Outreach Day Care – I have a wonderful day each week , painting with the artist in residence, bread making to name just two things – Waen Outreach do not receive a penny from Denbighshire County Council and have to raise over £9,000 a year to care for people like myself and their families.. they desperately need our support
