St Kentigern Hospice Celebrates Opening New Flint Superstore

On Saturday 26th of July, St Kentigern Hospice proudly opened its preloved shop in Flint Retail Park. The new outlet, which will be open Monday to Sunday, offers a fresh opportunity for the community to support local hospice care while discovering preloved treasures.

The grand opening began with a special ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Deputy Mayor Cllr. Elaine Jones, who officially opened the shop and marked the occasion with a few words of support. Following the ceremony, guests took time to explore the shop, chat with our clinical staff and volunteers, and enjoy refreshments in the new space.

As the largest retail space operated by the hospice to date, the Flint Superstore offers a wide range of high-quality preloved items, including furniture, homeware, clothing, electrical goods, and more. The shop is designed to create a warm, welcoming environment where customers can browse sustainably and support a vital local cause at the same time.

Retail Manager Daniel Connelly said, “By moving to a bigger, more central space in Flint Retail Park, we will be able to provide an even better shopping experience to our valued customers, and generate even more funds to help us continue caring for patients and families across North Wales. Every purchase, every donation, and every volunteer makes a real difference. If you are looking to donate, we offer free house clearances and collection. Call 01745 583170 to support hospice care.”

The opening of St Kentigern Hospice’s retail shop marks an exciting milestone in the charity’s continued growth as it celebrates 30 years of care. This expansion not only strengthens the hospice’s presence in the Flint area but also reinforces its commitment to sustainability, providing the community with a meaningful, eco-friendly alternative to fast fashion. The hospice plays an important role in locals’ lives and preloved shops are key to its survival. The NHS only contributes a third of its funding – the rest raised is from donations, fundraisers and its much-loved charity shops.

The hospice extends a heartfelt thank you to the many individuals and local businesses who contributed their time and support to help make the shop a reality.

The hospice is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join the team at our new shop. Interested in getting involved? Visit stkentigernhospice.org.uk or call us on 01745 585221 to learn more about volunteering opportunities.
