St Kentigern Hospice Admiral Nurse Visits Flint Dementia Group

Our Admiral Nurse, Sophie, visited the Dementia Group at Flint Town Council on Thursday 22nd October, helping to raise awareness of the specialist dementia support available to families across North Wales.

During the visit, Sophie had the opportunity to meet with members of the group, answer questions and share information about the Admiral Nurse service provided by St Kentigern Hospice in partnership with Dementia UK.

It was a lovely opportunity to connect with local residents, share experiences and highlight the importance of ensuring that people affected by dementia know where to turn for advice, reassurance and support.

Supporting Families Living with Dementia

At St Kentigern Hospice, our Admiral Nurse service provides specialist advice, guidance and emotional support to families and carers of people living with advanced dementia, including support through end-of-life care and bereavement.

We understand that caring for someone with dementia can bring many challenges, and no family should have to face them alone.

Our Admiral Nurse offers a range of support, including:

  • Emotional support and guidance for families and carers.
  • Expert advice on understanding and managing advancing dementia.
  • Support with planning for future care and end-of-life decisions.
  • Practical information and guidance to help families navigate everyday challenges.
  • Signposting and referrals to other services and organisations.
  • Access to additional Hospice services, including family support and complementary therapies.

Our Dementia Carer Programme

Alongside individual support, St Kentigern Hospice also offers a Dementia Carer Programme through our Wellbeing Hwb.

The programme provides a welcoming and supportive environment where carers can develop their knowledge, build confidence and connect with others who understand the experience of caring for someone with dementia.

Loved ones are also welcome to attend and can be supported by our experienced Wellbeing team in a separate, safe and engaging environment while carers take part in the sessions.

Thank You, Flint Dementia Group!

A heartfelt thank you to Flint Town Council’s Dementia Group for welcoming Sophie, and to everyone who attended and took the time to speak with her.

Opportunities like these are incredibly valuable in helping us reach more people, raise awareness and ensure that families across our communities know that specialist support is available when they need it most.
