Choosing colours, trying something different and seeing an idea take shape: there is something satisfying about making an item of your own.
During a recent art therapy session hosted by Glynis, patients at St Kentigern Hospice created their own jewellery. They were proud to show off their finished pieces, and we were delighted to capture some of their creations.
Activities like this make room for interests and experiences beyond someone’s illness. A session can offer an opportunity to concentrate on a creative task, enjoy company and spend time doing something for yourself.
There is no need for every piece to look the same. The choices people make are part of what makes their work special, from a favourite colour to a combination they have never tried before.
Our photographs show the care and individuality that went into these pieces. They also offer a glimpse of the everyday moments that matter within hospice life.
Thank you to Glynis for hosting the session, and to everyone who shared their creations with us.
