We are pleased to introduce a new specialist Bathing Service to our Wellbeing Hwb at St Kentigern Hospice, created to enhance comfort, dignity, and wellbeing for people living with life-limiting illnesses.
A Service Designed Around Comfort and Choice
This new service from our Wellbeing Hwb offers therapeutic bathing in a calm, relaxing environment, supporting both physical comfort and emotional wellbeing. Delivered by a specialist, trained team, the service is equipped to meet individual mobility needs, helping patients maintain independence wherever possible.
Our aim is simple: to provide personalised care that improves quality of life through compassionate support.
Who Can Use the Service?
The Bathing Service is available to patients with life-limiting illnesses who may benefit from specialist bathing support.
- Referrals can be made by any healthcare professional
- Self-referrals are also welcome for an initial assessment
- Referrals open from February, with appointments available from March
Following referral, patients will attend an initial assessment with our clinical team to ensure the service is tailored to their individual needs.
Specialist Equipment: Astor Comfort Height-Adjustable Bath
The Community Bathing Service is equipped with an Astor Comfort height-adjustable bath, designed to maximise comfort, safety, and dignity for both patients and staff.
This specialist bath can be raised or lowered smoothly to suit individual needs, allowing patients to enter and exit more easily and enabling carers to provide support at a safe, ergonomic working height. The design reduces the need for manual handling, helping to protect patient comfort while supporting best practice in clinical care.
With supportive features and gentle positioning, the Astor Comfort bath allows patients to enjoy a relaxing, therapeutic bathing experience, even when mobility is limited. This equipment plays a key role in ensuring the service remains inclusive, person-centred, and adaptable to a wide range of physical needs.
When the Service Runs:
The service will operate on:
- Wednesdays and Thursdays
- Morning and afternoon sessions available
Cost and Donations
The service is supported by voluntary donations, helping us continue to offer high-quality, compassionate care to those who need it most.
