Light Up a Life
Remember loved ones at our Light Up a Life Service
Many find comfort in coming together to remember those dear to them who are no longer with us. To gather with family, friends and those who understand their loss to celebrate their lives and share fond memories. This year we are thrilled to be hosting the first Light Up a Life service at the hospice as well as numerous satellite services within our local community.
If you wish to celebrate the life of someone special this Christmas you can dedicate a light on our remembrance tree and make a donation to St Kentigern Hospice online through our VisuFund Christmas Page. Simply choose a decoration, add a photo and make a donation. Alternatively, you can dedicate a light at the hospice and write in our Light up a Life Book of Rememberance. This will be displayed at the Hospice on the night. Each dedication and donation you make ensures we can keep supporting patients and families across Central North Wales when they need us most.
Please note that only dedications received by 28th November will feature in our Book of Remembrance. Any dedications received after this date will be added to our online remembrance book added to our website.
The festive period is a time of celebration, but it can also be a difficult time of year when you are parted from your loved one. The Light up a Life appeal gives people who have lost loved ones the opportunity to come together and remember them. The service is open to all and will feature music and readings to help us celebrate the lives of those we have lost. It is completely free to attend.

Dedicate a light to a loved one
This year our Remembrance Tree will stand proudly outside the hospice entrance and will be the center of our Light Up a Life service on December 1st. We will stand together under the Remembrance Tree during the powerful moment when the lights are switched on, each light symboling the life of a loved one who is no longer with us.
You are able to celebrate the life of someone special this Christmas by dedicating a light on our remembrance tree and donating to St Kentigern Hospice. Every dedication made before 29th November will also be added to our book of remembrance both as an online pdf and book displayed in the hospice and at St Asaph Cathedral.
Donations can be made by downloading the form below and returning along with your donation to
‘Light Up A Life, St Kentigern Hospice, Upper Denbigh Road, St Asaph, LL17 0RS’
Or by adding your donation to our Virtual Tree
By dedicating a light you are not only remembering a loved one you are also allowing St Kentigern Hospice to continue serving our community in their time of need. Each dedication made contributes directly towards providing free specialist palliative care to local people living with life-limiting illnesses.
Our Online Light Up a Life Tree
You can now dedicate a light to your loved one on our VisuFund page. Visufund is an online tool to facilitate the collection of donations and display of messages. Interactive pages are created from templates, where people choose an item to add to an image. As more people contribute, pictures grow and flourish – that’s why they call it visual fundraising. You can choose a decoration, add a photo to our Christmas tree and make a donation to support our hospice.
This year every dedication made before 29th November will be added to our book of remembrance both as an online pdf and book displayed in the hospice and at St Asaph Cathedral. We will also have a display of special golden stars with special messages in memory of loved ones. You are able to enter your dedication and message on page and we will write the message on a star for you at the Hospice.
Your support is so important
Light Up a Life is not only a time to remember family and friends, but also a time to reflect on the care and compassion of the staff of St Kentigern Hospice who have dedicated their time to those in their care. They work tirelessly to ensure that patients at St Kentigern Hospice live the best lives possible right up until the end, whilst supporting families and friends to come to terms with the illness and loss of their loved ones.
You can make a donation of your choice for your dedication. Your donations can be used to support the hospice in so many ways. £14 could provide an art therapy session; £25 could provide 1 hour of specialist support from a nurse; £60 could offer a bereaved family emotional support in their time of need.
We wouldn’t be able to provide the excellent level of care we pride ourselves on without our fantastic supporters. It would mean so much if you could consider including a donation with your dedication.
